Doug Beier- Instructor

Doug Beier has been a traditional Wing Chun student of Danny Halligan's since 1998. He has been an assistant instructor with Halligan's Combat Training Systems since it's inception in 1999 and has assisted in nearly all of the classes offered through both NEMERT and ITOA as well as law enforcement seminars offered in Iowa.

Doug's personal recreations have always been in the shooting sports and he is proficient with many firearms including shotgun, pistol and rifle. Having served in Vietnam 69-70 with a line combat and recon unit, Doug understands the importance of mental mind set and preparation for confrontation and survival.

Doug is the county coordinator for the Volunteer Hunter Safety and Firearms Safety in Buchanan County, Iowa and is state certified lead instructor. He established the program thirty years ago since then he has built a cadre of fifteen certified instructors and certified over 3,000 students.

Doug feels his simple motivations as a defensive tactics/skills instructor are basic. First he has two sons and a daughter in law in law enforcement in Illinois. "Anything I can do to help them or their fellow officers to survive is worth the cost and if I can give one officer, one tool at one seminar that will help save his life or the life of a fellow officer then all my time and energy has been rewarded." Secondly, Doug feels that he can show students in both law enforcement and traditional classes that age and size DO NOT have to be a barrier to good self defense skills and tactics.
