Danny Halligan conducts a seminar in Hoffman Estates for NEMRT

Seminar participants, May 30, 2003

On May 30th, Danny Halligan along with several of his advanced students conducted a Physical Skills/Tactical Combatives for Law Enforcement seminar for North East Mutli-Regional Training (NEMRT). NEMRT is the largest of Illinois' seventeen Mobil Training Units which are all a part of the state's ASSIST program. For more information about NEMRT check out their web page at www.nemrt.com.

The seminar was conducted at the Hoffman Estates, Illinois Police Department and was attended by officers from fourteen different Illinois police departments.

The seminar represented the first time Danny and his assistant instructors taught for NEMRT after being approached by them in the late summer of 2002. Since that time, Danny's training program has been certified in Illinois and Danny and his student Matthew McNamara were also certified as Physical Skills/Tactical Combatives Instructors by the State. They are also now recognized as experts in hand to hand tactical combatives, hand to hand fighting principles and applications, and physical skills/tactical combatives for law enforcement officers.

Danny would like to thank all attending officers for their openness towards learning new concepts and skills and for their fantastic responses to them.

Comments from seminar participants:

Times change, training needs change, and this course addresses the issue for officer safety.

Hands on training, excellent instructors, very knowledgable, useful tactics applicable to combat/street situations.

This course was fantastic and should be MANDATORY for all patrol officers.

I liked the proactive vs reactive philosophy and simple gun retention.

High instructor to student ratio. All instructors very knowledgable of topic.

Experienced instructors gave hands on practical techniques that can be applied on the job.

The instructors had full knowledge and were able to teach with clarity.
