My name is Michael Heene and I am a Detective with the Des Plaines, Illinois Police Department. I am presently assigned to the United States Customs Task Force. This task force conducts investigations of illegal narcotic trafficking/money laundering which many times involves members of this team and/or myself to operate in an undercover capacity, usually always in the City of Chicago. While working undercover, I am placed in situations with many people who are of the criminal element. Needless to say, if these offenders were to discover that I am an undercover police officer, and they intended to take physical action against me I seriously need to be able to defend myself, take control of the situation and make arrests. The action that I take must be quick, powerful and most of all, I must have the confidence that it will work as planned. This is paramount because my back-up officers are usually away from the narcotic purchase location. This is where the Law Enforcement Training taught by Danny Halligan comes into my life.

I was first introduced to Danny Halligan while he instructed members of my Department's Tactical Response Team (T.R.T.). For 33 years I have never really been interested in martial arts or any training based on them. I attended the training with an open mind and after I observed what Danny's Skills and instruction could do and what my body could do using this art, I was incredibly hooked on learning as much as I possibly could. I am still amazed by the simplicity of the Skills Danny teaches and the explosive power that can be generated at a moments notice. Danny's Seminars and instruction have been the greatest learning experience I have had in years. I would like to take a moment once again to thank Danny for taking the time to not only instruct, but to educate myself and other members of the T.R.T.

Prior to my profession as a police officer, I was enlisted with the United States Coast Guard for 6 years. My rating was a Gunners Mate Second Class. I was a firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor and served on board cutters conducting mostly narcotic trafficking boardings off the coast of Florida. I have seen many "theories" about hand to hand combat and have been instructed on several of them. I have NEVER, in all these years found any tactic, form or even gimmick that could compare to what I've already learned through Danny's Law Enforcement Training. This is truly the best combat training I have been part of. Every day that I work out on the streets, that is what I am now ready for, combat. The "Gang" criminals I must deal with are tough street fighters and sometimes pursue confrontations with my partners and me, so I must always be ready to react and terminate the aggression swiftly. Danny's lessons have made empty handed situations against subjects completely unfair for the bad guy!

For several years I was the Assault Team Squad Leader with the department's T.R.T. I could go on for hours about how Danny's training has helped our empty-handed tactics. I impatiently await my next training date with Danny!
